I have been banking with Westpac for over ten years without any issues. I am a pensioner and Westpac don't charge me any fees. They don't have a lot of branches which is the downside. You can use other ATMs but you do get charged fees.

Internet banking on web and app is easy and fast. Transfers processed faster than other banks. Advantage Saver interest bonus is great. But very hard to access customer service by phone. And you can't go to a branch for help.

Customer service? Their phone enquiry lines are set up to cut you off, with no option to speak to an officer. Ease of internet banking? After 5 hours and 11 phone calls - in only 2 of which I got to speak to an officer - I gave up trying to open an account. Their mobile links which is how they insist on dealing with you, don't work. Their "Verify Documents" don't work so you cannot set up the account. "Just bring your id into a branch" they say, but they can see i live half a continent away from SA. They refuse to speak with you on the phone. Technology? The entire IT department needs replacing. Incredibly frustrating and a complete waste of time.

Then after looking at the documents given it was 14% interest rates with extra frees for someone with no credit history or debt. Random system shutdowns affect online banking - especially bad for it happens often on weekends. Customer service takes literally 2 months to provide a response to a credit card or loan request (with constant calls from me asking for updates).
